Multistream for OBS vs Aitum Multistream
Both are OBS plugins for going live on several platforms from one OBS, and both are free, open-source GPL software. They take different routes: Aitum Multistream adds extra outputs inside OBS, each with its own encoder, and your PC uploads every one. Multistream for OBS adds a dock that checks your setup and goes live in one click, and sends one upload to Multistream Cloud (with Pro) or the copies through the free Multistream app on your PC.
Here's what each one does, from each project's own pages, so you can pick the one that fits your stream.

Where Multistream for OBS stands out
A pre-flight check. Before you go live, the dock checks your OBS settings (H.264, a keyframe every 2 seconds, a bitrate each platform takes), your connection to Multistream, each platform's setup and where OBS sends. Most problems have a one-click fix, like Point OBS at Multistream.
One button for every platform. Go live on 3 starts OBS and every platform you turned on, after a 3, 2, 1 countdown. Each platform shows how long it's been live, and you can stop or restart one without ending the rest. Before anything comes off the air, it asks.
One upload with the cloud. With Pro ($10/mo), OBS uploads one stream to Multistream Cloud and the cloud sends it to up to 12 platforms, so your upload doesn't grow with each platform. If OBS or your internet drops, your platforms stay live on your BRB clip for up to 30 minutes.
Free from your PC too. Without Pro, the dock sends your stream through the free Multistream app, which sends a copy to each platform from your PC.
Where Aitum Multistream stands out
Aitum Multistream is free, open source and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux with OBS 30 or newer. Every output can have its own video and audio encoder, so you can send YouTube AV1 or HEVC while Twitch gets H.264. It can reuse Twitch's Enhanced Broadcasting stream and your VOD audio track on other platforms, it walks you through adding outputs for sites like Twitch, YouTube and TikTok, and with Aitum Vertical you control horizontal and vertical outputs from one place.
Because every output leaves your PC, your upload carries one stream per platform, and each output with its own encoder is another encode on your PC.
Which one should you pick?
Pick Multistream for OBS if you want a check before every stream and one button to go live, if your upload is limited or you stream to several platforms (the cloud uploads once), or if you want your platforms to stay live when OBS drops.
Pick Aitum Multistream if you're on macOS or Linux, or you want a different encoder for each platform and all of it on your own PC.
Setting up Multistream for OBS takes a few minutes:
- Install Multistream for OBS (Windows 10 or 11, OBS 31 or newer) and open OBS. The Multistream dock opens on the right.
- In the dock, click Sign in with your browser and approve it.
- The dock's pre-flight check looks at your OBS settings, Multistream Cloud, your platforms and where OBS sends. If OBS isn't sending to Multistream yet, click Point OBS at Multistream.
- Click Go live on 3. After a 3, 2, 1 countdown, OBS starts streaming and Twitch, YouTube and Kick go live.
Questions, answered
Is Multistream for OBS free?
Yes. The plugin is free and open source. Without Pro it sends your stream through the free Multistream app on your PC; with Pro ($10/mo) through Multistream Cloud, with one upload for up to 12 platforms.
Does Multistream for OBS work on Mac or Linux?
Not yet: it's for Windows 10 or 11 with OBS 31 or newer.
Can I keep Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting with Multistream for OBS?
Yes. OBS keeps streaming to Twitch itself and a second output sends the copy for your other platforms.
Can I switch from Aitum Multistream?
Yes. Add your platforms on multistream.gg (or in the free app), install Multistream for OBS, and the dock's pre-flight check sets OBS up. Turn off or remove the Aitum outputs so your platforms don't get two streams.
