A Streamer.bot alternative that lives inside your streaming app

Short answer: Is Multistream a Streamer.bot alternative? Yes, for the common jobs: chat commands, raid and gift reactions, sounds, scene switches and Discord posts. Actions are built into the free Multistream app, with 3 actions free and as many as you like on Pro.

If you've looked for a way to make your stream react by itself, you've probably met Streamer.bot. It's a well-known tool for exactly that. Multistream has the same idea built into the app you already use for chat, alerts and overlays: Actions. When something happens, Multistream does something back.

This guide explains what Actions are, walks through three setups you can copy in a few minutes, and sets Actions next to Streamer.bot using only what Streamer.bot's own pages say.

What Actions are

An action is a rule with two halves: a trigger (what happens) and events (what Multistream does about it). Someone types a command, raids you, redeems a channel-point reward or sends a TikTok gift, and the action runs its events in order.

Triggers include chat commands on every platform you've connected, text in chat, Twitch raids, subs, gift subs, cheers and channel-point rewards, TikTok gifts, follows and shares, YouTube Super Chats and new members, Kick follows and subs, a timer that repeats, a web link another service can call, a global keyboard shortcut, and OBS changes such as a scene switch.

Events include sending a chat message, playing a sound, speaking text out loud, switching an OBS scene, showing or hiding an OBS source, posting to Discord, setting your Hue lights, changing your stream title, waiting a few seconds, and running another action. Each action can have a cooldown, so one viewer can't set it off ten times in a row.

Three setups to copy

Each one takes a few minutes. Open the Multistream app, go to Tools, then Actions, and click New for each. Switch on All actions above the list, or nothing runs.

1. A !discord command that works on every platform

Viewers type !discord on Twitch, YouTube, Kick or TikTok and get your invite in the chat they're in.

  1. Click New and name it "Discord command".
  2. Under Triggers, click Add trigger and pick Chat: Command. Type discord as the command and leave the platform on any.
  3. Under Events, click Add event and pick Chat: Send message. Leave the platform on trigger, so the reply goes back to the platform that asked, and type your invite message.
  4. Next to Test as, type a viewer name and click Run to see it work.

A Discord invite is fine in a reply. Don't put a link to your stream on another site in a Twitch or TikTok reply while you stream to several platforms, because those platforms don't want you sending their viewers elsewhere.

2. A raid plays a sound and switches the scene

When someone raids you, a sound plays and OBS switches to your raid scene, then goes back.

  1. Click New, name it "Raid welcome" and add the trigger Twitch: Raid. Set the minimum viewers to the smallest raid you want to celebrate.
  2. Add the event Sound: Play file/URL and pick your sound file.
  3. Add the event OBS: Set scene and type the name of your raid scene. OBS needs to be connected: the Services pills on the Actions page show if it is.
  4. Add Wait: Delay for 8 seconds, then OBS: Set scene again with your normal scene.
  5. Add Chat: Send message to thank the raider, then click Run next to Test as.

3. A TikTok gift triggers a sound

When a viewer sends a gift on TikTok, a sound plays and your thank-you shows in chat.

  1. Click New, name it "Gift thanks" and add the trigger TikTok: Any gift. To react to one gift only, pick TikTok: Specific gift instead and type its name.
  2. Add the event Sound: Play file/URL and pick a short sound.
  3. Add Chat: Send message with a thank-you. The viewer's name goes in as {user}.
  4. Click Run next to Test as to hear it, then try it for real with a small gift from another account.

Multistream Actions next to Streamer.bot

Streamer.bot is a separate program you download and run next to your streaming software. Multistream's Actions are part of the app that already holds your chat, alerts, overlays and bot. This is what each one's own pages say:

Where Streamer.bot stands out

Streamer.bot advertises custom scripting and extensive extensibility, and it has a large library of community setups. If you already write code for your stream, that matters. If you'd rather click through a few boxes than write a script, Actions are made for that.

Free and Pro

Free: up to 3 actions, enough for a !discord command, a raid welcome and a gift thank-you, with every trigger and event available.

Pro ($10/mo): as many actions as you like. Get Pro when you outgrow three.

Ready to try? Download the Multistream app, then follow the step-by-step tutorial on actions for every setting.
