How to stream on Kick and Facebook at the same time

Short answer: Can you stream on Kick and Facebook at the same time? Yes. Kick allows multistreaming; Kick Partners turn on Kick's Multistreaming toggle when they also stream to a long-form platform.

Kick is where people come to watch streams; Facebook reaches the friends, family and groups who already follow you. Going live on both from one OBS puts the same stream in front of both crowds, with nothing extra to run.

Here are two ways to do it with Multistream: Multistream Cloud, where OBS uploads once and the cloud sends the stream to Kick and Facebook, and the free Multistream app, where your PC sends both copies. After that: the Kick Partner rule that matters here, and how to stop pasting a new Facebook key every stream.

Method 1: Multistream Cloud (one upload for every platform)

Multistream Cloud takes one stream from OBS and sends a copy to Kick and Facebook, and to up to 12 platforms in all. Your internet only uploads that one stream, so adding a platform doesn't need a faster connection. It comes with Pro, $10/mo.

  1. Create your Multistream account, then get Pro on your Account page.
  2. In the Studio's setup guide, on Where do your viewers watch you?, click Add a platform and add each one:
    • Kick: click Sign in with Kick, log in and click Allow. Or paste the Stream URL and stream key from Kick's Creator Dashboard → Stream URL & Key.
    • Facebook: paste the stream key from Live Producer → Streaming software, and turn on Use a persistent stream key there so it stays the same.
  3. Install Multistream for OBS (Windows 10 or 11, or a Mac as a beta; OBS 31.1 or newer) and open OBS. The Multistream dock opens on the right.
  4. In the dock, click Sign in with your browser and approve it.
  5. The dock's pre-flight check looks at your OBS settings, Multistream Cloud, your platforms and where OBS sends. If OBS isn't sending to Multistream yet, click Point OBS at Multistream.
  6. Click Go live on 2. After a 3, 2, 1 countdown, OBS starts streaming and Kick and Facebook go live.

If OBS or your internet drops, Pro keeps your platforms live on your BRB clip for up to 30 minutes, and when OBS is back you carry on in the same broadcast, with the same chat. Turn it on under Disconnect protection.

Method 2: the free Multistream app (from your own computer)

The free Multistream app for Windows and Mac can send the copies from your own computer instead. Your upload then carries one copy for each platform, and if your PC's internet drops, your platforms drop with it. Run the app's Speed test first to see what your connection can carry, or work it out with the free upload calculator.

  1. Download the Multistream app for Windows 10 or 11, or macOS 11 or newer, and open it.
  2. Go to Multistream → Go live and set Send from the cloud or from this PC to This PC.
  3. Open Setup guide and click Add a platform for Kick and Facebook. Twitch, YouTube and Kick accounts you've connected in the app add in a click; the others take their stream key.
  4. Install Multistream for OBS and open OBS. Without Pro, the Multistream dock sends your stream through the app on this PC, so keep the app open.
  5. Click Go live on 2 in the dock. Your PC uploads one copy for each platform.

If this happens: the app keeps saying Waiting for OBS to go live after you press Start Streaming. Open OBS's Settings → Stream again and check the server and key match the app's Setup guide, then make sure the app is still open. If you open the app a second time, it just brings the first window forward, so you never end up with two. If an app update stops partway, the app says why and offers Try again.

Good to know for Kick and Facebook

Kick Partners: Facebook counts as long-form. Kick asks Partners to turn on its Multistreaming toggle (in your dashboard under Partner Income, or /multi on in your chat) when they also stream to a long-form platform, and that stream's payout is cut by 50%. Kick names Twitch and YouTube as examples; Facebook's horizontal live streams are the same kind of platform, so plan on the toggle. Only short-form, vertical platforms such as TikTok LIVE are exempt. Not a Partner? This doesn't apply to you.

Make Facebook's stream key stay the same. In Facebook's Live Producer, under Streaming software, turn on Use a persistent stream key. Without it, Facebook can give you a new key for each stream and you'd paste it into Multistream every time.

Who can go live from streaming software. Facebook asks for an account at least 60 days old, and a Page or professional-mode profile with at least 100 followers.

One picture for both. Kick and Facebook both show a 16:9 picture, so the stream OBS already sends works for both. There's nothing to change in OBS.

Check your upload before going free. With the free app, your upload carries a full copy for each platform. Run the app's Speed test or the free upload calculator first; with Pro, OBS uploads one stream however many platforms you add.
