How to stream on YouTube and Kick at the same time
YouTube brings search and replays; Kick brings live viewers who are there to chat. Streaming to both from one OBS means you don't have to choose.
Two ways to do it with Multistream follow: Multistream Cloud, one upload from OBS sent on to both, and the free Multistream app, which sends both copies from your own PC.
Method 1: Multistream Cloud (one upload for every platform)
Multistream Cloud takes one stream from OBS and sends a copy to YouTube and Kick, and to up to 12 platforms in all. Your internet only uploads that one stream, so adding a platform doesn't need a faster connection. It comes with Pro, $10/mo.
- Create your Multistream account, then get Pro on your Account page.
- In the Studio, step 1 (Pick platforms), click Add a platform and add each one:
- YouTube: click Sign in with YouTube and pick your channel's Google account. Multistream Cloud then starts your YouTube broadcast by itself, so it doesn't sit in preview.
- Kick: click Sign in with Kick, log in and click Allow. Or paste the Stream URL and stream key from Kick's Creator Dashboard → Settings → Stream Key.
- Install Multistream for OBS (Windows 10 or 11, OBS 31 or newer) and open OBS. The Multistream dock opens on the right.
- In the dock, click Sign in with your browser and approve it.
- The dock's pre-flight check looks at your OBS settings, Multistream Cloud, your platforms and where OBS sends. If OBS isn't sending to Multistream yet, click Point OBS at Multistream.
- Click Go live on 2. After a 3, 2, 1 countdown, OBS starts streaming and YouTube and Kick go live.
If OBS or your internet drops, Pro keeps your platforms live on your BRB clip for up to 30 minutes, and when OBS is back you carry on in the same broadcast, with the same chat. Turn it on under Disconnect protection.
Method 2: the free Multistream app (from your own PC)
The free Multistream app for Windows can send the copies from your own PC instead. Your upload then carries one copy for each platform, and if your PC's internet drops, your platforms drop with it. Run the app's Speed test first to see what your connection can carry.
- Download the Multistream app for Windows 10 or 11 and open it.
- Go to Multistream → Go live and set Where the relay runs to This PC.
- Open Setup guide and click Add a platform for YouTube and Kick. Twitch, YouTube and Kick accounts you've connected in the app add in a click; the others take their stream key.
- Install Multistream for OBS and open OBS. Without Pro, the Multistream dock sends your stream through the app on this PC, so keep the app open.
- Click Go live on 2 in the dock. Your PC uploads one copy for each platform.
Good to know for YouTube and Kick
Turn on live streaming on YouTube first. The first time, YouTube can take up to 24 hours to turn on live streaming for your channel (YouTube Studio → Create → Go live).
No stuck preview. Add YouTube to Multistream Cloud with Sign in with YouTube and it starts your YouTube broadcast by itself. Without that, turn on Auto-start in YouTube Studio, or YouTube waits for you to press Go live there.
Kick Partners: the Multistreaming toggle. YouTube counts as a long-form platform, so Kick Partners have to turn on Kick's Multistreaming toggle (or type /multi on in Kick chat), and Kick halves that stream's payout. Multistream's pre-stream check reminds you.
One title. The Stream info page sets one title for YouTube and Kick, or a different one for each.
Questions, answered
Can I stream on YouTube and Kick at the same time?
Yes. Neither forbids it. Kick Partners turn on Kick's Multistreaming toggle first, which halves that stream's Kick payout.
Why doesn't my YouTube stream start?
Either live streaming isn't turned on for your channel yet (it can take up to 24 hours the first time), or the stream is waiting in YouTube Studio's preview. Sign in with YouTube in Multistream Cloud and it goes live there by itself.
Do I need a faster internet connection for two platforms?
Not with Multistream Cloud: OBS uploads one stream. From your own PC with the free app, your upload carries a copy for each platform, so check it with the Speed test first.
Can I use a different title on YouTube and Kick?
Yes. On the Stream info page, give any platform a title of its own, or leave it alone.
