Set up your chat bot with commands and timers

The Multistream Bot answers commands like !discord and posts reminders every so often, in every chat you stream to. The app and the website share the same bot settings, so set it up in either place.

You need: The Multistream app on your PC, or a Multistream account

In the app

  1. Open Tools in the sidebar, then Multistream Bot. You land on its General page.
  2. Switch Bot on on. Under Where the bot talks, turn on the chats it should answer in.
  3. On Twitch, read the line under Send chat as and type the /mod line it shows in your own chat once, so the bot can post.
  4. Open the Commands page under Multistream Bot and click Add command. A new command card opens.
  5. Fill in Command (for example !discord) and Reply (what the bot says). Pick Who can use it.
  6. Open the Timers page and click Add timer. Type the message, then set Interval (min) and Min chat lines.
  7. Click Send now on the timer to check it posts in your chat.

On the website

  1. Open Bot in the dashboard sidebar.
  2. On the Commands card, click Edit. Type a Name and what The bot answers, pick Who can use it, then click Add to the list.
  3. Click Save. The card now counts your command.
  4. On the Timers card, click Edit, fill in Message and Every (minutes), click Add to the list, then Save.
  5. Switch on Your bot to run it in the cloud, so it keeps answering with your PC off. This part needs Pro.

Built-in commands such as !uptime, !so and !points are already there. Switch off any you don't want.

Where the website's bot answers, the bot in the app stays quiet, so viewers never get two answers.
