Let viewers request songs on Spotify

Song requests let viewers pick the music: they type !play Song - Artist in chat and it plays on your Spotify. You decide who can ask and how many songs each viewer gets.

You need: The Multistream app on your PC, Spotify Premium, playing on a device

In the app

  1. Open Tools in the sidebar, then Music. You land on its Setup page.
  2. Click Connect Spotify and sign in to Spotify in the window that opens. The page then says Logged in as your Spotify name.
  3. Turn on the switch to enable song-request commands.
  4. Open Spotify and start playing anything, so it has a device to play on.
  5. Open the Requests page under Music and under Viewers request songs with, pick !play in chat or Channel points (Twitch channel points).
  6. Type !play and a song name in your own chat to test it. The song joins the queue.

Mods can type !skip to skip a song, and viewers can type !revoke to take back their own request.

If Spotify stops working (it signed you out, or song requests are on without it), a pink warning in the top bar says so on every page. Click it, then the button under the message to fix it.

To show the current song on stream, add the Now playing overlay from the OBS Sources page in the app.

On the website

  1. Sign in to the Multistream app on your PC with the same account. The app can be open or closed while you change the settings here.
  2. Open Song requests in the dashboard sidebar, under On stream.
  3. Switch Take song requests on or off. With the app open, the page also shows how many songs are in the queue.
  4. Under Viewers request songs with, pick !play in chat or Channel points.
  5. Pick Who can request, then set Max queue (overall) and Max queue (per user).
  6. With the app open, click Skip this song to skip what is playing.

Blocked artists and genres, refunds and the bot's chat replies are set in the app's Music pages.

With the app closed, your changes are saved to your account and show on your stream as soon as the app opens. The first time, open the app once so your current setup is saved to your account.
